Our highly coveted award for Driving Instructor of the Year (Scotland) goes to Chris Cooney in Edinburgh & Lothians.
A huge congratulations to him, it's well deserved with his work ethic throughout 2021.
Chris received a huge proportion of the Scottish Votes, capturing hundreds of votes from current and past pupils. It makes sense too just by looking at Chris' website, Twitter and outstanding Facebook reviews. Based in Edinburgh, he has a solid reputation not just with his pupils but with other ADIs.
Chris is passionate not only about teaching pupils how to become safe drivers for life, he is part of Starpic Project helping Youths in the community in the Edinburgh and Lothians area.
We spoke to Chris about his win and he told us this:
I was surprised to have been nominated then when I received the news on actually winning the title I am delighted. Through delivering a quality standard to every pupil will see them gain skill and confidence required to achieve the high standard and pass the test.
We felt it was important to call out another hard working, popular instructor; Fiona McMeekin. Fiona is a nationally known instructor who pushes for quality not only locally but right across the UK. She is known for her quality, being straight to the point and standing up for learner drivers disability. Fiona, again received a large proportion of the vote share and the respect of other instructors that happily endorse her and her results. We fully expect Fiona to be in the running to win this outright, next year!
