The award for Special Needs Provider of the Year goes to Chris Bensted in Sevenoaks.
Massive congratulations to Chris for taking home this award for 2022.
Chris runs Theory Test Explained, The Driving Instructor and Trainer Collective, and many mny master classes. It's clear he is passionate about helping pupils and drivers that face disabilities. He teaches those with ASD, ADHD, Dyspraxia and more through his Theory Test Explained offering which even offers free consultation. Chris, already extremely well known in the industry, this shows just how much of a merit he is and how lucky we are to have him.
Winner with 100s of votes, Chris takes home this coveted prize.
Chris Bensted explained how he felt after this huge win.
I am incredibly grateful to GoRoadie, The DIA and everyone that voted for me. This award will help me open doors for both Theory Test Explained to create more change, and for my pupils to achieve their goals.
The theory test is misunderstood, under supported and out of date. I stand with many SEND trainers calling for change from the DVSA and will continue to provide 1:1 Zoom support to those that need it.
I’d like to take this moment to ask all instructors to consider the support they offer for the theory and try and make it more prominent in their training. I am happy to advise on this and will be producing tools and articles they can use. Please get in touch.
Finally, my congratulations to Haydn Jenkins who works tirelessly for SEN pupils along with his colleagues.
Haydn Jenkins in Shrewsbury was a runner-up for the Special Needs Provider of the Year award. Despite not winning, Haydn's achievements are still worth celebrating.
As a founder member of the Association of Disability Driving Instructors, Haydn has dedicated nearly 30 years to raising awareness for drivers with disabilities. He is a well-known and approachable figure in the national Instructor community, regularly attending events.
Despite his strong vote share and impressive 5-star reviews from 2022, Haydn didn't quite make the top spot this year. However, his dedication and passion for his work in this field is commendable.
