LEEDS, UNITED KINGDOM. The award-winning Scottish startup GoRoadie has accelerated their growth and arrived into Leeds.
Founded in 2018, by developers Michael Carr and Barry White, the Dundee-based company helps driving pupils search, compare and book a driving instructor who suits them - all with a tap of their button on their phone. It also houses tools which allow instructors to easily manage their students, holding necessary contact details in one place.
Michael Carr, co-founder of GoRoadie, said: “Launching in Leeds is our biggest milestone to date. We know Leeds has went through an exciting rejuvenation in the past couple of years and there is a lot of excitement and optimising around the city with Channel 4 moving its UK Headquarters in to the Majestic building. We have already have seen almost 30 driving instructors in the area sign up and students are coming in from all areas of the city.
“Our model has already proven to be successful in major cities such as Glasgow, Aberdeen and Nottingham. The number of bookings and instructors is now continuously increasing month on month. Last month over 200 students booked their driving lesson through our platform., up over 100% from the previous month.“
“This launch in Leeds is key to our national growth plan with our ultimate goal being job creation. In the next 12 months we aim to recruit five employees, while continuing to support instructors who work for national franchises become independent. Our ambition is to be synonymous with driving lessons, such that Airbnb is with flat shares.“
Commenting on the platform, newly signed-up driving instructor Mian Qaism of MQW Driving School, said: “After signing up to GoRoadie, I can clearly see the difference with this and other product! GoRoadie has already sent me a couple of students - and it’s been super simple to use. I can’t wait to pass on my knowledge to a whole host of students who might have not found my driving school otherwise!"
Early this year, GoRoadie was announced as SME100's Most Innovative Solution for Locating Driving Instructors. The company also secured the Commended Side Hustle of the Year Award at the UK Startups Awards in London last year.
